St. Sabina is committed to the faith formation of the children of our parish community.
We believe that growth in faith is a lifelong journey, undertaken in community and guided by the Spirit.
We believe the family is the primary community in which faith is shared and nurtured. The whole Church community, beginning at the parish level, puts itself at the service of the family to help form young Catholics. The Parish School of Religion is intended to support the family and the Church community in this mission.
We believe that children grow in faith best as members of a faith community that includes their families, their classmates and teachers, and the parish community, with extension into the wider world.
We believe that children need education in faith that is connected to a shared and meaningful past, directly applicable to the realities of the present and preparatory to the challenges of the future.
The Parish School of Religion offers religious education for children in grades Pre-K through 6th grade. We use the OSV series, I Am Special for Pre-K and Kindergarten and the Brown-ROA series, Walking By Faith, for 1st through 6th grades. We also prepare children for their First Reconciliation and First Communion. For children who are just beginning in the church we offer Rite of Christian Initiation for Children classes (RCIC) using a program from Sadlier Publishers. We also provide a Safe Touch program through the Committee for Children as part of a Diocesan requirement to maintain safe environments for our children. Classes are taught by trained volunteer catechists. Our classes are offered in English and in Spanish on Sundays from the 3rd weekend of September through the 1st weekend of May. Parents are always welcome to visit the program and to view the materials.
PSR is offered September thru May of each year. Class times are as follows:
Sunday 9:15am - 10:15am English Pre-School thru 6th Grade
Sunday 11:15am - 12:15pm Spanish 2nd Grade and RCIC only
RCIC, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children, is offered for children who have not received religious education or sacraments prior to their 3rd grade year. RCIC class times are:

Junior High Youth: 7th and 8th grade
1st and 3rd Wednesdays 7pm-8:30pm
Senior High Youth Group: 9th - 12th grade

2nd and 4th Sundays 7pm-8:30pm from January - May
Confirmation: 10th grade or older
1st & 3rd Sundays 7pm-8:30pm from September-December
