Eucharistic minister training
Fall Eucharistic Minister Training – (Two Weekday Evenings)
Monday and Tuesday Evenings, November 16-17, 2009, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Spring Eucharistic Minister Training – (Two Weekday Evenings)
Monday and Tuesday Evenings, June 7-8, 2010, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
The Second Vatican Council called all the baptized to take “full, conscious and active participation” in the liturgy and in the life of the faith community. All the people of God are called to use their God-given gifts to serve the common good and build up the body of Christ. In response to our Baptismal call to minister to God’s people, we invite all to consider this important ministry. The parish community is in constant need of Eucharistic ministers. We are inviting all who desire to serve as Eucharistic Ministers in the St. Sabina parish community to attend these training sessions.
The first evening of training is devoted to a theology of ministry, examination of the qualities of good ministers, along with a brief history of the Mass. The second evening is highly practical in terms of walking through what a Eucharistic Minister does, how bread and wine are to be distributed and how that distribution is done in our particular church setting. If you feel called to serve God’s people through this important ministry, please plan to attend our training sessions.
EVENINGS OF REFLECTION AND RENEWAL FOR EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Tuesday and Wednesday Evenings, December 1-2, 2009 ~ 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Ministering to God’s people is an important component of Christian community life. Those who commit themselves to serving others are being true to Jesus’ mission of giving of oneself so that others may live. A lifestyle of service can also be draining both spiritually and psychologically. The need for time apart to renew and refocus our life of service is crucial for all ministers. St. Sabina parish community is providing two evenings intended to facilitate reflection and renewal for all Eucharistic Ministers.
The first evening will be spiritually and prayerfully reflective. We will have time for prayer, interaction and reflection on our role as ministers of the Lord’s Body and Blood. We will focus on Jesus, the Living Bread that nourishes our lives for service to others. The second evening will be practical and interactive. We will examine how we carry out our ministry in the context of this parish community. Practical questions, concerns, and challenges will be explored and clarified. Anything that impacts how we effectively minister at the Eucharist or to shut-ins both at homes and in nursing facilities will also be examined. We ask all Eucharistic Ministers to set these two evenings aside so that we can all be renewed both spiritually and in the practical aspects of our ministry.
